Four original pop-up store ideas

Pop-up stores are temporary sites set up in a strategic location for a specific campaign or event.  They often include innovative and adventurous design.  Here are four examples that demonstrate the potential of the pop-up store:

Driving amongst snow-capped mountains

When Porsche released the new Porsche Cayenne, it didn’t get put on display at the company’s dealerships.  Instead, the German carmakers opted for a pop-up store on the slopes of the French Alps. It featured a snowflake-esque dome and offered potential clients the unique experience of taking the car on a test drive through the mountains.

A library for next-generation paper

Remarkable describes itself as ‘next-generation paper’.  It proposes replacing notebooks and paper documents with ‘the only tablet that feels just like paper’.  To celebrate its launch, architectural firm Snøhetta designed a library to display the tablet and focused on creating an atmosphere that encouraged reflection and concentration.

Ephemeral food

Ikea held their first pop-up experience in Barcelona, featuring a temporary store that specialised in Swedish cuisine.  The idea was to help potential customers get to know the brand and their new formats, as well as allow them to sample the food available in Ikea stores.

Pop-up stores that test the market

Kenay Home is a Valencian homewares brand that sells furniture online and that has a great presence on Instagram.  Following the success of their online store, the company decided to open some bricks-and-mortar stores.  Before they did this, they tested the market by setting up a pop-up store.
