World Design Capital Valencia, the design capital status that has put the spotlight on this Spanish city, is not ending just yet. In fact, there are still many ideas in store for us in 2023 and we at Connections by Finsa want to highlight the below three must-see events for next year:
Forty of the best projects chosen by Disseny Hub
El millor disseny de l’any (The best design of the year) is an exhibition featuring 40 projects that have been chosen by Barcelona City Council and Disseny Hub. Four cross-sectional programs include works that uphold the values of New European Bauhaus, beauty, inclusivity, sustainability, and technological innovation. It’s on until February 12.
What will domestic spaces look like in ten years’ time?
Escenarios de un futuro cercano (Scenes from a near future) features never-before-seen prototypes of the rooms in our homes. Connections by Finsa has interviewed both the exhibition’s coordinator, Tachy Mora, and a member of the architectural firm that came up with the idea for the kitchen. We’ve also published a full review of the exhibition. You can catch it at the Centre del Carme Culture Contemporània until March 19.
Design that heals
Diseño + Salud (Design + Health) brings architecture, fashion, and graphic communication together with evolutions in science and medicine through technology and design. Ramón Úbeda, the exhibition’s curator and an expert in the interplay between these fields, says that “good design can save a life [and] you don’t have to go to hospital to see proof of that. One undervalued example is wearing a helmet on a construction site, something which was designed with this purpose in mind”. You can visit the exhibition until April 16.
