Creativity is an essential part of everything that Cristal Reza does. This 3D artist revels in textures and intense, vibrant colours when constructing her very imaginative universe. Below is just a small selection of her best pieces:
The “Voguerama” kaleidoscope
Reza worked with Mattel and Vogue Italy on an installation at Milan Fashion Week, collaborating with the toy company to create a huge kaleidoscope with a screen at the end and mirrors all around that reflected different animations. Visitors could enter it and see their image alongside animations of famous toys, such as Barbie and Ken or Hot Wheels cars. It was the most Instagrammed part of the event.

Furry caterpillar and moths
Reza loves to work with nature. “I’m forever seeing images of very unusual animals that nature has created and they give me ideas for new things I can create,” she explains. These are very calm animations, in which the hairs on the animal’s body move gently with the wind. Sound also gives the feeling that you’re right there with the real thing. The designer often works with textures and colours that make you want to touch the screen, as if you could pass through it into the world that she has created.

The Letter S
This Image was made as part of #36daysoftype, an Instagram challenge that consisted of drawing a letter and the numbers 1-9 each day. “It’s quite difficult to do the whole alphabet. It was impossible for me to finish it [in 2022]!”

Mushrooms on the edge of a cliff
Another example of this artist working with natural elements is the several compositions featuring mushrooms with a variety of textures and in different environments. She popped these three on the edge of a cliff:

Perfectly imperfect insects
Reza has a 2D series called Insectos dañados (‘Damaged Insects’). “They’ve always interested me because they have some kind of wound: a ladybug that’s missing a wing and you can see how the dots on her new wing are being painted on, or a grasshopper that’s missing a leg so there is a type of crutch in its place”.
